pH buffering of quarry water run off.

PHOENIX were approached by the UK arm of the USA company KEECO to develop an automated control system for pH adjustment of quarry waters.

Water is collected in lagoons and pumped through the treatment plant where the pH is monitored before and after dosing to maintain the lagoon within operator set parameters.

The control parameters were defined by the KEECO UK engineering staff and PHOENIX designed and built a control panel with DLOG SCADA interfacing to control the plant.

All design, build, PLC software, SCADA configuration, installation and testing was undertaken by PHOENIX staff.

pH levels both in and out of the plant along with flow rates and various tank levels were integrated to form a predictive dosing control that was able to maintain within point1pH.

A "Slurry" system was later designed by PHOENIX which pre-mixed the powder before treatment.

"Slurry" dosing system installed in a quarry in Devon.
